Paso 1: connect router to computer.

The first step is to connect the Huawei HG8245H router to the computer, if it hasn't been done before. Better to use a LAN cable, que proporcionará una conexión estable y permitirá el acceso a la interfaz web para otras operaciones asociadas con la edición de los parameters. In our other post the author explains how to connect any router to the PC and do it correctly.

Paso 2: authorize in web interface

All actions associated with changing the configuration of the router in question are carried out on its proprietary Internet hub. In most cases, does not change and remains original, but it is feasible that Rostelecom has installed its own firmware and, in this circumstance, the menu looks a little different than what you will see below. Despite this, this does not affect the authorization procedure. You will need to find the address, username and password to continue setup. The information is located on the back label of the device and, if you have trouble identifying it, see guide below.

Paso 3: First steps in the Internet center

Una vez que haya iniciado we can apply transformations once for the whole cluster and not for different partitions separately con éxito en el Centro de Internet, you will be automatically redirected to a section to edit authorization information. The developers recommend changing the username and determining a password so that outsiders (generally neighbors) unable to enter the interface and change settings.

Once setup is complete, changes take effect and router is sent to reboot. The next time you access this menu, use a new username and password.

Paso 4: WAN configuration

The most important parameters that directly impact the connection refer to the WAN, since it is the protocol used to receive data from the ISP through the respective cable. It is in the section of the same name where the parameters are edited to choose the type of connection.

  1. Open tab “PALE” and select an existing connection to configure or create a new one.
  2. Among the settings that appear, look for the item “PPPoE” and mark the post with a marker. If the contract or instructions from your Internet service provider say that a different protocol should be used, activate and configure it according to the information provided.

Please note that when using the PPPoE protocol, the ISP makes sure to provide a username and password to authorize on the network. You must enter this information in the router settings when the individual fields are displayed. If you don't know what to specify, contact Rostelecom technical support and ask a representative. Your Internet Service Provider may have connected you via dynamic IP protocol; then the internet should be available immediately after connecting the router.

Paso 5: wireless network

Nowadays, most clients use the wireless network at the same time as the LAN connection, connecting the device to the router via Wi-Fi. Each router distributes its own network with unique parameters. Exactly these parameters must be edited through the router's web interface to guarantee the correct functioning of the access point..

  1. To do this, go to tab “WLAN” and be sure to check the box “Enable WLAN”.
  2. Select an existing connection and delete it with the dedicated button. Later create a new one to configure it as you want from scratch.
  3. Enter the name of the network you want in the field. “SSID name”.. It is used to find this access point in the list of available access points when connecting. At the same time, make sure there is a check mark next to “Habilitar SSID”..
  4. Here, select the recommended authentication method, In other words, network security. In the drop-down list, must specify “WPA / WPA2 PreSharedKey”..
  5. The connection password itself is entered in the field “WPA pre-shared key”Password must be at least eight characters. Remember this password, Because you must use it the first time you connect to the AP you are configuring. But do not worry, you can return to the web interface at any time and change this password to any other, but later you will have to re-enter it on all devices connected to the router.

Paso 6: Local area network

Finally, we will take care of the LAN configuration. As usual, most users are satisfied with their defaults, but they may need to edit them if this router is connecting to another router or if you are setting up a corporate network. To start, open the tab “LAN”. and take a look at the two available fields. In this firmware version, only the router's IP address and subnet mask can be changed. Although the second field always remains unchanged, you can edit the IP address according to your needs, as an example, to avoid conflicts when connecting one router to another.

Later navigate to the section “DHCP server configuration” and pay attention to the items present there. Disable the DHCP server if the router is operating in bridge mode, but it has connection problems. Here you can also specify the range of IP addresses to receive for clients, but regularly this option is not modified.
