When multiple devices are connected to the same internet source at the same time, there may be a malfunction due to an IP address conflict. Let's see how to fix the above problem on Windows PC 7.

Ways to solve the problem.

The error reported in this article is expressed with a notification that appears on the screen informing of an IP address conflict and the fall of the Internet connection. The cause of the problem in question is that two different devices receive a completely identical IP. Usually occurs when connecting through a router or corporate network.

The solution to this problem is to change the IP to a unique variant. But before proceeding with any complicated maneuver, just try restarting your router and / or your pc. In the vast majority of cases, these actions will help eliminate the error. If you do not get a positive result after performing these steps, proceed as described below.

Method 1: enable automatic IP generation

First, you should try to enable automatic IP generation. This will help generate a unique address.

  1. Click on “Starts”. and open “Control Panel”..
  2. Go to “Networks and Internet”..
  3. Click on the article “Control center…”.
  4. Later, in the left area of the window, click on “Change parameters …”..
  5. On the screen that opens, find the name of the active connection through which you want to communicate with the World Wide Web and click on it.
  6. In the status window that appears, click the item “Properties”..
  7. Find the component called “Internet Protocol version 4”.and highlight it. Then click on the item “Properties”..
  8. In the window that opens, activate the radio buttons in front of “Get the IP address …” and “Get DNS server address …”. Then click “OKEY”..
  9. To go back to the previous window, Press the button. “To close”.. The IP conflict error should go away.

Method 2: specify a static IP

If the above method did not work or your network does not support automatic IP assignment, then it is a good idea to try the reverse procedure: assign a unique static address to the computer so there are no conflicts with other devices.

  1. To find out which static address can be assigned, it is necessary to know information about the set of all available IP addresses. This range is usually specified in the router settings. To minimize the probability of IP matching, you must extend it to the maximum, thus increasing the number of unique addresses. But even if you don't know this group and don't have access to the router, you can try to match the IP. Click on “Starts”. and click on the item “All the programs”.
  2. Open Directory “Standard”.
  3. Right click on the item “Symbol of the system”.. From the list of actions that appears, select the option that provides a startup procedure with administrative privileges.

  4. After opening. “Command line”. enter an expression in it:

    Ipconfig

    Press the button. Entered.

  5. Network data opens. Find the address information. Specific, you must write down the following parameters:
    • IPv4 address;
    • Subnet mask;
    • Default Gateway.
  6. Then go to the properties of the Internet Protocol version 4. The transition algorithm is described in detail in the previous method up to the point 7 inclusive. Switch both radio buttons to the lower position.
  7. Then in the field. “IP adress”. Enter the data that was displayed against the parameter “IPv4 address” v “Command line”.but replace the numeric value after the last point with any other value. It is recommended to use three-digit numbers to minimize the possibility of the addresses being matched.. In the fields “Subnet mask”. and “Front door”. enter exactly the same numbers that were displayed against similar parameters in “Command line”.. In the Alternate and Preferred DNS Server fields, you can enter the values for 8.8.4.4 and 8.8.8.8. After entering all the data, press “OKEY”..
  8. Back in the connection properties window, also click “OKEY”.. The PC will get a static IP and the conflict will be resolved. If you continue to have an error or other connection problems, try replacing the digits after the last period in the “IP adress”. in the Internet Protocol properties. Note that even if you manage to set a static address, the error can reoccur when another device gets the exact same IP. But you will already know how to deal with this problem and will quickly rectify the situation.

Address conflict in Windows 7 may occur due to IP matching with other devices. This problem is solved by assigning a unique IP. This is preferably done automatically, but if not possible due to network limitations, you can assign a static address manually.
