As usual, I write about free utilities of this type, as an example here: Free Russian Video Converters, but this time the guys from Wondershare offered to review their paid product: Video Converter Ultimate, I did not refuse.
Note that the same company has a free video converter for Windows and Mac OS X, about which I wrote in the post about Video Converter Free. In reality, the program described today is the same, but with a much more extensive list of supported formats and additional features.
Convert video is the main function, but not the only one, of the program
All video conversion tasks are performed in the main program window, in general the procedure is as follows:
- Add a video by dragging and dropping it on the listing or using the Add Files button
- Choose the format to convert on the right side of the program
- Specify the folder to save in the “Output folder”
- Click on “Turn into”
In terms of supported formats, with this video converter, can convert anything, anywhere:
- MP4, DivX, AVI, WMV, MOV, 3GP, MKV, H.264 and others. At the same time, can convert video to MP3 audio files and other formats, which is useful if you need to cut audio from a video. For each format, by clicking on “Setting”, additional configurations available, including frame rate, bit rate, quality and more.
- Preset profiles for common devices: iPhone and iPad, Sony PlayStation and XBOX, Android phones and tablets like Samsung Galaxy of different versions or Google Nexus. Conversion for Sony TVs, Samsung, LG y Panasonic.
- Convert 3D video: 3D MP4, 3D DivX, 3D AVI and others.
Additional conversion alternatives include the ability to combine all the converted videos into one (element “Merge all videos into one file”), as well as edit the original videos by starting a simple video editor (Edit button).
The following options are available in the video editor:
- Crop video by removing unnecessary parts
- Cut out, rota, resize and watch video
- Add effects and adjust the brightness, the contrast, the saturation and volume of the sound.
- Add watermarks (text or image) and subtitles.
In terms of exactly the video conversion possibilities, I have described it. In summary: everything is simple, functional and will be understandable to any novice user who does not understand what format is needed to play on their phone, tablet or TV; there will be no problems with the conversion.
At the same time of direct conversion and simple video editing, Wondershare Video Convert rUltimate has some additional features:
- Grabe DVD, create screen savers for DVD video
- Recording video played on screen
To burn a video DVD, go to the Burn tab and add the videos you want to put to disc to the file list. By clicking the button “Change template” on the right, you can choose and customize one of the DVD menu alternatives. You can change the inscriptions, the bottom, add background music. Once everything is ready, click Burn to burn a disc, ISO file or DVD folder on your computer's hard drive.
Regarding video recording from the screen, i didn't get this function to work (Windows 8.1 Update 1), and the working principle is as follows: start Video Recorder (the shortcut will be created when installing the program), start video playback, in which the button to record will appear. Nothing appeared for me, neither in the standard Windows player nor in third-party players.

I will sum it up
Would you buy this video converter? Maybe not: all similar functions can be found in free versions, and many different profiles are needed for conversion only when you don't know the screen resolution of your device, the formats it supports and you don't want to deal with.
But with all this, the program is excellent for its own purposes and for a common user, everything you might need when converting is here, and the additional functions available may be useful.
