Many users who have entered the BIOS to make various configuration changes may have seen this setting as “Quick start” O “Quick start.”. By default it is disabled (value “Disabled”.). What is this boot parameter and what does it affect?

Assignment “Quick start” / “Quick start” in BIOS

By the name of this parameter, it is already clear that it is related to the acceleration of the computer startup. But, What makes it possible to reduce the boot time of the PC?

Parameter “Quick start” O “Quick start.” speeds up startup by skipping POST screen. The POST (power-on self test) It is a self test of the PC hardware that runs when it is turned on.

More than half a dozen tests are run at the same time and, in case of failure, respective notification is displayed on the screen. When POST is disabled, some BIOSes reduce the number of tests and some disable the self-test completely.

Note that the BIOS has a parameter “silent boot”.which disables the display of unnecessary information, as the motherboard manufacturer's logo, when the PC starts. It has no effect on the boot speed of the device itself. Do not confuse these parameters.

Should I turn on quick start?

Since POST in general is essential for a computer, it is reasonable to answer the question whether it is important to highlight disabling it to speed up the computer startup.

In most cases, there is no point in constantly diagnosing the condition because people have been using the same PC settings for years. For this reason, if the components have not been changed recently and everything works fine, “Quick start.”/“Quick start” can be activated. If you have a new computer or a new component (especially a power supply), or if you experience occasional glitches or glitches, should not do this.
