Add the program to exceptions in Windows firewall 10

Many programs that work closely with the Internet have functions in their installers to automatically add permission rules to the Windows firewall.. Despite this, in some cases this is not done and the request may be blocked. In this post we will talk about how to allow network access by adding its item to the exceptions list.

Add an application to the firewall exceptions

This procedure enables you to quickly create a rule for any program that allows it to receive and send data over the network.. We often encounter this need when installing games with online access, various messengers, email clients or streaming software. At the same time, this configuration may be required for applications to receive regular updates from developers' servers.

1. Open system search using a keyboard shortcut Windows + S and enter the word “Firewall”.. Click on the first link in the output.
2. Go to the section that enables interaction with applications and components.
3. Press the button (if it is active) “Change settings”..
4. Then proceed to add a new program by clicking on the button indicated in the screenshot.
5. Beat . “Revision”..

   Look for a program file with an EXE extension, select it and click “open”..

6. We proceed to choose the type of networks in which the created rule will operate, In other words, the software will be able to receive and transmit traffic.

   Default, the system proposes to allow direct connections to the Internet (public networks), but if there is a router between the computer and the ISP, or if you plan to play in a “LAN”, it makes sense to also check the second box (private network).

7. Press the button “Add”..

   The new program will appear in the list, where you can use the checkboxes to stop the rule execution and change the network type as needed.

Therefore, we have added the application to the firewall exceptions. When i do this kind of thing, note that this leads to a security degradation. If you don't know exactly where you are going to “play” the software and what data will be transmitted and received, it is better not to create an exception.
