Connecting a PS4 game console to a monitor without HDMI

Using the RemotePlay function

Sony has brought RemotePlay into its next-gen set-top boxes. In other words, you have the ability to play games on your computer, tablet, smartphone or PS Vita via the Internet, having previously launched them on the console itself. In your case, this technology will be used to display the image on the monitor, despite this, to complete the entire procedure, you will need a full-fledged PC and the implementation of connecting the PS4 to another screen to pre-configure it. Let's go through the whole preparation and launch procedure step by step.

Paso 1: download and install RemotePlay on your computer

Remote Play is done through official Sony software. Hardware requirements for this software are average, but you must install the Windows operating system 8, 8.1 O 10. In older versions of Windows, this software will not work. RemotePlay download and installation is done as follows:

Go to the RemotePlay web portal

1. Follow the link above to open the page to download the program, where you click the button “PC with Windows” .
2. Wait for the download to complete and start the download.
3. Choose a suitable interface language and proceed to the next step.
4. The installation wizard will open. Get started by clicking “Next” .
5. Accept the terms of the license agreement.
6. Specify the folder where the program files will be saved.
7. Wait for the installation to complete. During this procedure, do not turn off the active window.

Paso 2: set up the game console

We have previously said that for RemotePlay technology to work, must first be configured in the STB itself. First connect your console to an available source and follow the instructions:

7. Mark both items with markers: “Save internet connection” Y “Allow the PS4 system to turn on over the network” .

Paso 3: launch PS4 Remote Play for the first time

8. Here the screen resolution is reduced and the smoothness of the video is indicated. The lower the setting, the lower the internet speed requirements will be.

Now, if you did everything correctly, connect your gamepad and start playing your favorite console games on your computer. During this time, the PS4 can be in sleep mode and other residents of your house will be able to watch movies on the TV that the set-top box previously used.
