Disable the msmpeng.exe process

Contents

Msmpeng.exe is one of the Windows Defender executable processes, an internal antivirus (the procedure can also be called Antimalware Service Executable). This procedure usually occupies the hard disk of the computer, less frequently the processor or both. More affects Windows operating systems 8, 8.1 Y 10.

Basic information.

Since this procedure is responsible for scanning the system for viruses in the background, can be deactivated, even though Microsoft doesn't recommend doing it.

If you don't want the procedure to run again, you can disable Windows Defender completely, but it is recommended to install another antivirus program. In Windows 10, after installing a third-party antivirus package, this procedure is automatically disabled.

To prevent the procedure from loading your system in the future, but still have to turn it off, reschedule automatic maintenance to a different time (by default it is between 2 and the 3 in the morning), or let Windows run the scan. at that moment (just leave the computer on overnight).

Never disable this procedure with third party programs, since they often go viral and can seriously disrupt the system.
