Welcome back to our regular blog of Excel functions from A to Z. Today we look at the DÍA function.

The DAY function

The DÍA The function uses the following syntax to operate:

The DÍA The function has the following arguments:

  • serial number: This is required. Dates must be entered using the DATE function, or as a result of other formulas or functions. For instance, use DATE (2008,5,23) For the day 23 May 2008. Problems can arise if dates are entered as text.

It should also be noted that:

  • Microsoft Excel stores dates as sequential serial numbers so they can be used in calculations. By default, the 1 of January of 1900 is the serial number 1 and the 1 of January of 2008 is the serial number 39448 because it is 39,447 days after 1 of January of 1900.
